You are NOT old money. Your family is poor and has been so for generations.
If your family is not part of the nobility or aristocracy you’re new money.
“Old money” is a TikTok rephrase in order to appeal to Gen Z and the correct name is Classic.
I know a couple of people whose families got rich by exploiting colonies in the 1600s. I know girls whose families have been royalty since the Middle Ages. This is what’s old money, not your family that got rich 3 generations ago you peasant.
It’s not about what clothes you wear but about the quality. You can order Loro Piana or Ralph from Ali Express and pretend that you’re “wealthy” while the kid next to you wears some random clothes he inherited from his great-grandfather who was a count and he’ll look like royalty.
Most kids who come from these type of families don’t even post on social media what they’re wearing and their brands, you’ll understand from what social events they are in. The ones where the only way to get in is by being born into the right family.
One day while I was sitting in a palace in Italy and sipping espresso a guy next to me looked extremely nervous and overdressed, he was constantly looking around. He probably was a fan of Iman Ghadzhi I have to confess.
If you dress like a grandpa in your teenage years and pretend something you’re not then it won’t help you whatsoever.
