You are NOT old money. Your family is poor and has been so for generations.

If your family is not part of the nobility or aristocracy you’re new money.

Old money” is a TikTok rephrase in order to appeal to Gen Z and the correct name is Classic.

I know a couple of people whose families got rich by exploiting colonies in the 1600s. I know girls whose families have been royalty since the Middle Ages. This is what’s old money, not your family that got rich 3 generations ago you peasant.

It’s not about what clothes you wear but about the quality. You can order Loro Piana or Ralph from Ali Express and pretend that you’re “wealthy” while the kid next to you wears some random clothes he inherited from his great-grandfather who was a count and he’ll look like royalty.

Most kids who come from these type of families don’t even post on social media what they’re wearing and their brands, you’ll understand from what social events they are in. The ones where the only way to get in is by being born into the right family.

One day while I was sitting in a palace in Italy and sipping espresso a guy next to me looked extremely nervous and overdressed, he was constantly looking around. He probably was a fan of Iman Ghadzhi I have to confess.

If you dress like a grandpa in your teenage years and pretend something you’re not then it won’t help you whatsoever.

True.

I cringe sooo hard.

A personal experience here. We had one dude in our hs class who was extremely into "old money" stuff.

So we went on a school trip to italy and he was bragging to us, saying:

"One dude asked me: "what mafia do you work for?""

We were all quiet until one autistic dude in our room said with his monotone, dead voice:

"That did not happen."

The first guy got extremely mad, yelled "It did!" and stormed out

Tl;dr they pretend they are smt they are nlt

having made money from exploiting others isn't something to be bragging about.

There’s no morals in life. Old money is characterised as being part of a family which has held wealth, political power, status for centuries. How you got there doesn’t matter, only what you are now

all of them got there through exploiting others, if they're worthy of anything it's complete and utter disrespect.

old money fits are lowkey buns anyway even if you truly have the money to back them up

I literally couldn't care less about reading all that

Rs most people wear "old money style" just to fit in like wear whatever you want nobody cares

The worst kind is those people who wear old money style clothes and only post online when they wear that kinda clothes

Meanwhile they drive some shitbox like fiat or golf

Im old money but cant cure myself of crackhead pheno
