You can easily avoid any brain damage.
Basically concussions (which is the reason why boxers loses iq point) happens when your brain hits the wall of your skull, however it cannot happens if the position of the head is stable, in that case any vibrations produced by any bonesmashing techniques would end up absorbed by our skull and the cerebro-spinal fluid.
Moreover you don't need to hit hard to induce bone hypetrophy, you just need a good momentum which can be easily provided by your knuckles (since the surface of contact is small).
