Don't hit too hard, consistency is key, and make sure you're hitting all around your cheekbones. If it hurts too much take a break, bruises are normal. Btw what tool do you use?

A lot of people have gotten more prominent zygos when they are 16+, just wait a year or two and see if it has improved
