it's only cope if you cite loneliness / depression / self hatred as the reason you're checking yourself in IMO. been there done that and they literally don't care not even therapists care. lonely unsexed guys is an ugly problem no one wants to deal with and they just misdiagnose you with "clinical depression" as if it comes from out of the blue and doesn't have situational factors and give you pills that worsen your mental esp if you go off them manually.

if you have a serious problem that literally makes you non functioning like paranoid schizophrenia or severe bipolar disorder and you have a psychotic break maybe it's valid to go but I never want to set foot in a ward again I'd rope before going back.
