I was a mogger as a kid dad have a mogger jaw and the jewrthopedic recessed my mandible when I wore braces as an early teen Now I still got that stupid fucking retainers and my wisdom teeth are growing and I’m advised to remove the wisdom teeths but I’m not sure if that will impact even more my jaw or should I just go ER and force the ortho to remove the retainer and leave me alone

I need to get mine removed as well. Everyone on this forum recommends bone grafts after you remove them to prevent bone loss which is why I'm requesting bone grafts after mine are removed.

I've been trying to find some studies on the effects extraction of the wisdom teeth have on the jaw bone with bone graft vs no bone graft but was only able to find this one which concluded that there was less bone loss when bone grafting was done post extraction due to less bone resorption:

So there's at least some evidence that bone grafting post wisdom tooth extraction leads to less bone loss which is enough for me to get it done but a lot of people get their wisdom teeth removed and don't have any issues without any bone grafting.

I will need to get them removed for braces/bimax aswell. Tbh if you don't have them properly grown(no place etc) i don't think they matter at all. They might fuck up your other teeth, aren't visible and I don't know if anyone even uses them to chew if you have other molars. Also problems with cleaning.
I don't think they do change face after extractions anyways due to being last in arch so not as much pressure is put on them anyways.

It’s barely recessed no one ever noticed it and my dad thinks I’m legit insane but I spend too much time looking at myself in the mirror then at old pics of me as a kid but lifefuel it’s gotten significantly better since I started my first cycle
