This is a funny thing to observe, and true in a sense, and it's not a real contradiction.

Young people are more boneless-looking (at least by my observations), which makes them look younger, but they also have shitty skin and run down bodies, from hard living and obesity and stress, which makes them look older. It's kind of like they have all of the bad parts of a mature appearance but none of the good parts.
