1 week post OP custom wrap around PEEK jaw implant

Any updates?

It’s slowly getting better, but will probably take a few more weeks. Side looks decent but still swollen from the front, at least can open mouth wide enough to eat normal food

Also had a call with the surgeon yesterday. He said that given how much he damaged the soft tissue it might take up until new year for everything to settle, but at least no pain anymore

Haha thanks! We used Pattinson as an inspiration when doing the design, looks kinda similar I think but we opted for a bit smaller size and smoother shape to avoid risk of looking uncanny

Total cost 10k USD: 2k for the implant itself, 7300 for the surgery and 700 for anesthesia. Plus traveling and hotel, obviously.
I am not sharing doctor’s name but he was mentioned on this forum before and has an instagram, so it’s a fare game.
Still swollen but at least some results can be seen already. Implant also included holes for new masseter attachment. 8mm forward projection, gonials I don’t remember exactly but nothing crazy.

Interesting cost breakdown, a clinic in the Netherlands charges 3k for bilateral implants (implants not included in the price) so peek implants aren’t that expensive?

The firm that makes these peek implants (bonabyte) claims that they make them smooth on purpose, they don't want them to integrate with the bone to make it possible to remove them easily for a revision or whatever reason. They say they don't want to make it necesarry to scrape them out like medpor.
This is contrary to Giant's porous implants that a) have blood circulate through the pores b) loaded with antibiotics c) have the bone growing into the pores (I don't know if that's even real).
Not sure if there's much value in this preparation for a revision, which if you're gonna get, you're gonna get it soon anyway. It seems like it's better to do it right the first time, although I know that something like zygo implants has a notoriously high revision rate, but that includes non-customs.
Is the part about bone integration even true, or maybe they just don't have a technical base to make porous implants?
