I used to have a 9mm overbite from mouthbreathing in my childhood i was in a sports pre school so i was out of breath alot so the thing my orthodontist did was expand my pallet until i had a massive tooth gap and then he gave me braces (my maxilla still endet flat jfl) but now its way better tell him that he should expand it instead of extracting teeth they just do that so they have less work so he is overall lazy if you don't trust him anymore go search for an orthodontist that wants to expand right away
