Hey sorry I’m a greycel so I’m not sure about anything I’m saying.
I’ve tried everything that’s softmaxxing from thumb pulling to chin tucks, not much other than that to try and fix my maxilla. I have a recessed maxilla tho and I’m not sure how to convince my doctors to let me get maxilla surgery. I don’t know which doctor I should be talking to and I also have asthma. Is having trouble breathing a good reason to ask for the surgery? If so how much does it actually change? I’m 15 going 16 if that makes any difference

Yes, having trouble breathing is a good reason to ask for surgery, but you are going to have to wait until you are 18 to get the surgery, because that’s when male puberty often ends. You don’t have to wait until 18 to see a dentist with oral and maxillofacial surgery specialization (the professional who performs this procedure), because you might need to wear braces before surgery. Also, you said you are a greycel, which an old guy, boyo.

First, id like to say that your maxilla sutures fuse between the ages 15-16 so if you thumbpulled between these ages it wouldve done nothing. For now you could try keeping a good tongue posture and back posture. Do you have an underbite too and issues breathing aswell as slurred speech? Id say thats a good way to convince your doctor for surgery. Theyll probably let you do surgery if youre 17+. Dont stress it too much.

They advance your maxilla, the surgery is called a lefort I, they cut it & bring it forwards so it does the opposite.

Oh thanks for the advice!

Thank you!
Usually if it's to improve breathing, they want to make your airway bigger & advance both jaws(a double jaw surgery), the upper(maxilla) & the lower(mandible). Did ur ortho mention anything?

No he just asked if I’d consider surgery to fix my issues and to talk with my health insurance beforehand so we don’t go deep for nothing yet
