Mandibular growth was found to be statistically significant for the age periods of 16 to 18 years and 18 to 20 years. Growth from 16 to 18 years was greater than that from 18 to 20 years. Maxillary and mandibular growth were highly correlated at each age period. However, overall mandibular growth was approximately twice that of overall maxillary growth.

Keep mewing. There’s hope for ascension.

And mewing is what? Just keeping the tip your tongue on the roof of your mouth just behind the teeth?

Mewing is PRESSING HARD with your full tongue (not just the tip) on the roof of your mouth.

PROPER SWALLOW is part of mewing. Look it up.

19 here, is this shit legit or just more pseudo science? I would rather just get braces or plastic surgery which are proven to give results than to rather trust in some fringe ideas about facial growth. I'm open minded though so if that are actual results you can find i would be willing to listen or maybe try it.

Braces are a cope. They don’t work unless you’re like 14 max, and they only move your lower jaw. They will make your maxilla seem underdeveloped.

Go with plastic surgery if you’re convinced. What problems do you have?

I did it for a couple weeks and I got tired of it. It's fucking legit if you're young, but I'm 23 and my skull is hardened. I'm just gonna get jaw surgery instead. Anyone under 18 should be doing it immediately, and maybe even up to 20. If you can get the cash, surgery is better in my observation.

Based Mew claims that improper swallowing causes overuse of the cheek muscles (buccinator I believe it's called). When you use a muscle alot, it gets bigger, and the muscle getting bigger bloats your face. When you learn to properly swallow, supposedly the muscle shrinks due to not being used anymore, and your cheek area shrinks.

braces move your lower jaw? i thought they moved back your upper jaw to complete the slight overbite necessary

also mewing is a method for mouth breathers. mewing was made for kids that is a fact. Mike Mew stated that its possible for adult maxillas to be remodeled though, to what extent is not clear

Braces don’t move your maxilla LOL
They move your lower jaw forward (to fix the overbite), and that’s only if you’re like 14max.

if they move your lower jaw then that's a smart thing to do, surely that gives you a stronger and more defined jawline, as opposed to moving back your maxilla
ps: never had braces so no idea what it's like

You’re 19 so they won’t work, or might give a negligible difference.

Mewing>braces if you think you still have hope of moving your bones. Mewing is nature’s way of fixing things.

What problems do you have?

  1. Misaligned bite
  2. Overbite
  3. Asymmetrical jaw (probably caused by bite)
  4. Weak chin and jaw
  5. Puffy cheeks due to bite, body fat and weak cheekbones.
  6. Nose could be better
  7. Slightly asymmetrical eyes
  8. Pretty big forehead
Braces could align the bite which would improve asymmetry and the fix of the overbite may give my face more length. Plastic surgery may fix the projection of my lower third. What would mewing due that the options i presented could not?

DONT DO BRACES; THEY WILL ONLY MOVE YOUR TEETH AT THAT AGE

get double jaw surgery+genioplasty

If your maxilla is good,

Get bsso+genioplasty

Isn't double jaw surgery reserved for like extreme cases? Also why choose a genioplasty over an implant. Could you explain your reasoning a bit more?

What are your issues?

- My eye area is my most fucked up part. Eyes far too close together, slight/moderate NCT, and they're deep in my skull and very round. Legit if they were "average" eyes, I'd be a 6/10 and maybe not incel.
- No jawline, rounded face.
- Big nose, but at least it's roman and straight.
- Crooked, stained teeth, inward grown mouth. Teeth all cave in.
- Huge mantitties from being overweight/obese for the first 17 years of my life.
- Wide, birthing hips (JFL)
- Pinnacle of skinnyfat

I cannot second @bp101 enough regarding braces at that age. All it will do is shift the teeth. They won't move your bones. It will fix some crooked teeth at best. When I explored options for fixing my crooked teeth and fucked up mouth area, they offered me jaw surgery. It's a thing.

Visit a specialist and he’ll tell you better than me. If you have a clearly visible overbite, double jaw surgery (if your maxilla is recessed), or a BSSO (if it’s not), is ideal. Personally I hate implants, but maybe they could fit better than a sliding genioplasty depending on your chin.

Interesting. Do you think the asymmetry in the face is largely caused by my misaligned jaw (bite)?. When i suck my cheeks in, one cheek is more more hollow than the other whilst one side is more puffy. Would what you suggested help that issue as well? I do have a visible overbite but i'm not sure if its an extreme case. Can you also tell me how to see if my maxilla is recessed?

Maybe tbh cuz I have a slight overbite which makes my jaw crooked a bit. When I push my jaw forward my face improves a bit.
Do you have a recessed maxilla too?

I’d personally recommend visiting a specialist.

Cuz mewing won’t work if you’re like halfway through 19.
I just turned 18. I’ll wait like a year tbh. If mewing doesn’t do shit, I’m doing surgery.

it took 3 years i think for someone in their 30s for their maxilla to expand through mewing and chewing, they showed pics in the orthotropics forum

I'm not sure if i'll try it. I've got the time and money for surgery atm so i don't see why i shouldn't really follow that route other than potential health risks. But to climb my way out of this situation i have to be willing to sacrifice, we all do. Good luck.

I already knew this. My ortho said mine won't be done until I'm 20-22.
Mewing is PRESSING HARD with your full tongue (not just the tip) on the roof of your mouth.

PROPER SWALLOW is part of mewing. Look it up.

You're not supposed to do it hard. Doing that will just increase your cortisol levels and fuck your face up. It's meant to be relaxed.

Yes, but way slower.
Worst case scenario is you get better airflow, less dental degradation, and hyoid ascension

If you think mewing isn't legit than you are legit low iq. Maybe it doesn't improve your looks because you are old but it is definitely healthy.

Use a small amount of force. You want to endure it the whole day and not 2 minutes of hardcore mewing. Changes happen really slowly
