At that time, as a 14-year-old schoolgirl, she decided to write him a letter, which sparked a correspondence between them.


"I saw him on the news. Remember, everyone was showing and talking about this high-profile case. So I got interested in the situation. Initially, we judge people by their appearance. I found Ilnaz attractive, so I decided to write him a letter. That's how our communication started," she said.

Later, Diana came to visit Galyaviev in the colony. It was after this in-person meeting that they made the final decision to formalize their relationship. "During the visit, all these feelings flared up, and we definitely decided that we would get married," she admitted.


She did not try to question her partner in detail about the crime he committed, consciously avoiding the topic for a long time... "I understood that it was difficult for him, and I didn’t want to touch on that subject. But when I was on a long visit, I asked. He told me that he was in that kind of psychological state," Diana shared.


She understands that many will find her decision shocking. However, she insists that she is not seeking any financial gain from her marriage and does not want to gain popularity through a scandalous story. You can't control the heart—explains the criminal's wife.



"We have no hidden motives or self-interest. I probably fell in love at first sight. As I said, I thought he was handsome. Society will probably view this as crazy. The person committed such a crime, after all. But nevertheless, I listen to my heart," she added.

Currently, her inmate husband works in prison sewing clothes and exceeding production quotas, but all his earnings are directed toward paying court-ordered restitution to the victims.


On May 11, 2021, 19-year-old Galyaviev entered Kazan Gymnasium No. 175, where he had previously studied, and opened fire with a hunting shotgun.
