I'm planning on 1-2mm lefort 1 to avoid getting my nose cucked (and don't need much maxilla advancement anyway) and then around 5-6mm bsso to correct my bite.

I still need the lefort 1 anyway for maxillary downgraft but need only little horizontal advancement and too much would ruin my nose. like 3mm is the absolute max.

I had braces + bullshit ass herbst appliance in an attempt to correct the malocclusion. afaik surgery wasn't brought up and I didn't care or know any better back then.

Alfaro has good SFS results he usually does roughly pic related for all of his class 2 patients. I think he is the best surgeon for our situation but hes so expensive, are you going to get a plan from him and show it to another surgeon and ask them to replicate? its something ive considered but its v risky.

I think that would be futile. most surgeons are so up their ass and understandably they're not just gonna do shit that they have no real experience doing. I recommend consulting with different surgeons, make sure you get the 3D x-rays and get really involved in the planning. i.e. try to get him to do a few more mm vertical movement here, few less there, etc. and if you don't like the end result of the planning then cancel and consult someone else until you're satisfied.

Orthos should be sued for not telling patients of the ramifications of avoiding jaw surgery (inceldom). The fucking ortho I consulted for bimax had a 10 min long video he showed me about how he can have "patients avoid jaw surgery" by tilting their teeth and having them still look exactly as recessed with their mouth closed.

Surely they should have the knowledge to know the aesthetic benefits of it but I guess not. Every ortho I've consulted (aside from 1 foid JFL) told me I need a mandibular setback to match my mandible up with my severely recessed maxilla. Compared to every maxfac recommending upper jaw advancement.

yeah I think this is why mine didn't even bring it up. I had a talk with him about it afterwards and he said most people who are told they (or rather their kids) need surgery, they just walk straight out the door. people are stupid.

Btw fuck you Chad. I got recommended jaw surgery right off the bat by all the orthos I consulted. My teeth are already straight and they were STILL hesitant to bring up surgery. They tried to prance around it with "how would you feel about surgery?" and other questions.

my surgeon wanted to give me 3mm and i was scared first and we made it 1.5mm
