I got the answer using a much more autistic method

I doubled 2 then added 4 to get 8
I doubled 8(16) then added the double of 4 (8) to get 24
I doubled 24(48) then added the double of 8 (16) to get 64
I doubled 64(128) then added the double 16(32) to get 160

i mean, i could post puzzles (based on just as simple principles) no one here could come close to solving in a million years, but what's the point

p.s. can i ask you for a math related advice via pm next week? it's work related, i need to convert hundreds of numbers using a couple of factors, but there is a catch, so i'm not sure if i can write a formula (i have a rough idea, but it needs polishing) to spare myself of having to do it all manually (i'll explain the details when i get the papers, i think you should be able to solve it easily, or at least tell me if it's not possible)
