Totally disjointed with the status quo of the world today, crazy. 2018 was like living in an alternate reality.

Literally everything on every single level has changed, both in my personal life and in the world surrounding me.

It felt like everyone was into the newest shitty Marvel movie, hypebeast, rap, very OCD-type minimalism, celebrities, getting the newest thing to going towards a fascination with more older stuff for a search of hyper nostalgia, Why the fuck are a bunch of girls randomly listening to nirvana all of a sudden? (unless it's just a shirt trend lol) but most of it is not like actual older stuff, it's like a retro version of it, when you think about it, 2018 was also just retro nostalgia of stuff like comic books or 90s hip hop. I think the modern world for a long time has exasperated everyone to looking backwards to cope with how bad current things are and also because we literally haven't been making anything original since at least 2012 in anything (oh look, a new iPhone with a better camera!) Wow so original, people keep re-treading old things with a slight twist to make it seem new. I think the reason why anime and especially social media "influencers" has become so popular is because people are looking for something else other than hyper western entertainment from hollywood but not as boring as other media. Not that they are actually good because anything normies like is shit.

Western zoomers are actively distancing themselves from western pop culture. Its escapism

Agree I think people were more bubbly and happy in 2018 and not as fucked up, me included

Very possibly. From my point of view people change big time from the start of HS to the end, and then graduation is the sink or swim point. I sank, so everyday feels like drowning personally. I saw some people swim, and they seem to be doing OK

but to your point , there was a shift in these 3-4 or so years where literally the aura changed. I swear rooms used to be lighter, literally lighter in brightness @rdsky

I would call it dystopian but most people don’t GAF about the government. Dystopian but about life itself, like a prison planet

My personal life hasn’t changed much but politically and socially it’s very different yeah. Zoomers weren’t as gay and active back then, the climate strikes/movements and beginning of zoomermania were just getting started, people didn’t dress in ugly 90s clothes, etc. The world was still very gay, cucked and woke but I could never imagine it getting to the point is at now. I also thought Instagram was already bad enough and could never have thought that something arguably worse like TikTok would come around… I mean it’s 4 years and that’s the same time difference as 1914 and 1918. 4 years are short and it’s just proof a lot can happen and change in such a short time. Often times I am still stuck in this 2010s mindset. I sometimes feel out of place/alien in the current world
