Hey everyone,
I have a few questions about vertebral growth plates and whether it’s possible to keep gaining height after the leg plates have fully fused.
I had a knee MRI (from an ACL and meniscus tear I am getting surgery for) confirmed by an NHS junior doctor that my leg growth plates are completely fused, but I’ve also been tracking my morning height carefully since August and noticed progressive morning height increases using the aerosol can method.
Here are my measurements:
Could this mean my vertebral growth plates are still open? Or is it more likely posture/spinal decompression effects?
My posture has always been great, and any measurements were taken less than a minute out of bed having been asleep on my side/back for 7-9 hours fully hydrated.
For context, my mother is 5’4 and my father is 6’3. I do not know what their growth patterns were like.
Would appreciate any insights or similar experiences.

Here are my measurements:
- Aug 6 → Sept 9: 182.0 → 182.3 cm (+3 mm)
- Sept 9 → Sept 17: 182.3 → 182.4 cm (+1 mm)
- Sept 17 → Nov 3: 182.4 → 182.6 cm (+2 mm)
