I upgraded to Premium because I wanted to see my historical matches. Surprisingly, I had four. But it’s rather Euro-centric, the connections seem to be based on my Steppe ancestry, which only accounts for ~22% of my genome. I was hoping to see ancient connections to South Asia, but there were none. They were only two ancient Central Asians and two historical Europeans.

I only upgraded because I wanted to see my historical matches. Since there were only four, and none of them linked to South Asia, I would hardly say it was worth the €99. But I did discover more connections, so in my opinion, I’m glad I upgraded. I just won’t keep this subscription, though.

23andMe is a commercial DNA testing site. You can upgrade to a Premium account, which gives you access to historical matches to individuals with whom you share segments of DNA. As a Pakistani, I was expecting to see South Asian historical matches but instead, I saw historical matches from Central Asia and Europe, which is explained by the fact I have ~22% ancestry from the Central Asian steppes. All South Asians have steppe ancestry, but its percentage varies, depending on population.

No. But from what I know about my family, they've been settled on this land for a pretty long time. Still, I'm interested in researching it. I'll probably try something similar to this test soon. There might be some issues with shipping it to my country tho.

Yeah. I'm pretty sure about my overall ancestry, but I'm interested in finding out where exactly it's from. My grandpa on my mom's side is also slavic, but from a different country.
