300k salary in a HCOL like san francisco is good but nothing extraordinary when you take into consideration anesthesiologists/medical people are getting salaries up to mid/high 6 figures and those with a private practice 1m+, ofc they're older than this guy because of training etc. Software engineers in their 20s can make around this amount though, his real advantage is that he doesn't have a lot of expenses and can save the money, retire at 30 with 2m is good.
