There's still a lot of places in america that live up to the idyllic view that foreigners have of the US, just take a look at literally any college town in new england for example. There's an incredible amount of variance in quality of life due to our large pop. size., you can live in an enclave for your whole life if you wanted to in the U.S. The point is that it's a first world country with many privileges if you are wealthy or at least middle class (though the middle class is shrinking) and most people would agree with the fact that it's easier to get rich here than anywhere else.
