30 year old virgin here. I've never dated and recently have been feeling more and more in need of affection. I listen to ASMR girlfriend role plays to substitute and so I think I might be able to provide some insight
I think the people who don't get to experience love and affection through dating and relationships find ways to experience the emotions despite not having the actual opportunity. The concept of attracting a stranger just based on being you is a tremendous ego and confidence boost and the strong desire for this is normal. In the past I got a little carried away with one of the ASMR girlfriend role-playing and messaged her. I realized that was not a good way to deal with the situation so I did something similar to you. The thing is the fantasy and the reality wouldn't match. And I think its important to keep this in mind. But using an imaginary partner I believe is a coping strategy and is nothing to be ashamed of
We all want to feel wanted by someone. I've never experienced these things either but I have to be honest with myself about the reality of relationships and how I would actually be in them. Relationships are complex and require a lot of work. I think the positive parts are what we keep in our heads and focus on and not the parts that might make us rethink things
I think maybe people should be able to provide affection to each other like a cuddle buddy to fulfill these needs
