And yet today, even if we take exclusively the newest games only made for PS5/Xbox series and then for PC( like Starfield, Alan Wake 2 or Spider-Man), 4 core 8 thread CPUs are still getting good average fps and no stutters.

4 core 8 thread CPUs will not stutter in new games until the generation of consoles with more than 8 core CPU comes out (2027 minimum)

a well optimized game can run on very limited hardware. we also have new engines that have streamlined computational load to the point that the performance bottleneck is usually no longer cpu most of the time, but either the gpu or ram. that or just terrible programmers making poorly optimized programs
