In Mandarin Four is pronounced "si", and Death is also pronounced "si". Different characters but same pronunciation.

8 is a luckily number in the same but opposite way. 8 is "ba" but "ba" sounds a lot like "fa", which means "get rich" when combined with "cai". "fa cai" means get rich. People will pay big extra money in China for things with the number 8 in them, like license plates and sim card numbers.
