If you obverse a lot of influencers. You’d notice that they typically have average clavicle length. For example David laid. His large scapula, back and delts plus his tiny waist highlight his broadness.

If it goes down it doesn't need to be longer, if you have outward gonions instead of inward you are taking longer path to the same goal, the end of the chin in this case, so inward and downgrown will make the path longer from ear to chin even tho the mandible path is shorter

If you develop an outward gonion I seriously doubt it would ever subtract from your mandible length in development due to the fact the fact that its on a horizontal axis as opposed jaw length which is anterior and vertical

This is honestly very complicated and hard to put in words. But what I can say is that unless if your face is comically long or recessed maxilla, if you got a long jaw you definitely have good forward growth

+ If you are "downward grown" a long jaw becomes so much more crucial

I see what you mean. But disagree. Even if a wide mandible leads to shorter jaw length, I dont see it affecting it in any meaningful way
