decided to fast for two days after eating an entire tub of ice cream and 500g of sweets yesterday
just the start of day one and i found myself wondering if is there any risk for muscle loss in this 48hour time window

grateful if anyone here whos fasted before or knows about the subject can help me with that question

starting a fast right after a sugar binge is a bad idea because ur insulin is high, electrolytes are off, and you'll just feel worse than needed too throughout it.

48h probs won’t meaningfully burn muscle.

long fasts work better when you ease in, train lightly, and keep salts in. if you do go long break it gently not with junk.

i also did a 96 hour fast and ended it with bone broth then eggs which felt best.

Just get diabetes or cancer bro. Best weight loss routine

yep im planning to switch back to my actual diet after this hard reset

150g of potatoes 50g of liver and 4 eggs pre workout are going to be my break fast meal monday

i think potatoes are fast carbs and after a long fast insulin sensitivity is high so you can get a bigger spike which might bloating u or give u lightheadedness, but thats if its long asf if urs is only 2 days so its fine i think.

great meal tho

ngl make it a 3 day, 3 is so much better than 2 days for fasting

a three day fast is where most of the real benefits kick in bcs ur glycogen is fully depleted, insulin stays low, ketosis is happening, inflammation drops and ur appetite hormones reset.

two days mostly feels like stress and hunger.

never fasted for more than 12 hours before tho, if this feels great(physique wise) i might start doing it more often than just using it as another alternative to dump water that isnt diuretics

if i accounted for sleep time and yesterday it'd be 58 hours total spent in a fasted state

no worries glad it helped. if you’ve never fasted that long take it easy, i’ll be honest when i do my longest fasts i train pretty light by day 2, if i did legs i’d stick to accessories not squats or rdls, just so fatiguing.

you can try it just stay hydrated and dont expect the same strength u usually get ofc.

if this is mainly physique or cutting related look into alternate day fasting or intermittent fasting, if it’s more for health benefits a 3 day fast every few weeks or couple months is solid.

if u like fasting for debloating without diuretics.. fasting plus electrolytes low fiber, low sodium swings, works well.

fasting for long periods can be miserable tho
