Its better to be a good person than a bad one in my mind. When we do negative actions we may come to regret it later on as we seen the sadness or grief we have caused someone. Whereas when we do a good deed we come to feel better about ourself and our mood is elevated through make others happier. If everyone acted like an asshole in private, for example by littering on the street when no one was looking, the streets would be looking like the ganges.
