I wake up.
First challenge of the day: goinf out of bed feels like jumping off a cliff
I stand up and immediately remember that I’m 5’7
I walk into the kitchen.
My family looks down at me.
I look up at them.
We make eye contact for approximately 0.4 seconds before I accept my fate and crawl under the table for breakfast.
I make some toast, but the toaster is obviously designed for people with hell contracts. I have to stretch my entire body just to reach the counter. My knees are shaking. My ancestors are watching.
Then I leave the house.
A 6’0 chad walks past
The wind from their movement nearly sends me into traffic.
I get on the bus and stand next to someone who is 6’3 Their elbow is basically my forehead. I spend the entire ride looking at their armpit.
At school someone asks, How tall are you? (They saw me only because they bumped in to me)
I whisper 57
They say, “Oh.”
Oh.
I'm not surprised, I'm used to that
I go home and decide to take a shower.
The showerhead is positioned at the perfect height for someone who was forged in a chadfactory. I spend ten minutes adjusting it downward
Later, I try to take a mirror selfie.
i literally can't even see my chin becahss the window is so high up ( it probably isn't, I'm just 57)
So I get approximately 70% of my head in the picture.
I go to bed.
I pull the blanket over myself.
Finally, something that fits.
I stare at the ceiling and think about how, statistically speaking, there are billions of women taller than me.
Tomorrow, I will wake up and continue my life as a 5’7 survivor.
God gives his shortest battles to his strongest soldiers.
Unfortunately, he gave me short battles because I am short.
