The horizontal breadth of the cheekbones (zygos) and the zygomatic processes, as well as how forward-set or rearward-set the front of the zygos are, contribute to facial aesthetics (and the lack thereof).
A study done on Korean hairline-correction-surgery patients—
—identified that there are different shapes of zygos:

Some people’s zygos are anteriorly set—prominently forward-projecting but flattish at the front. Some people’s zygos are posteriorly set—the widest part of their face is at the back of the zygomatic process, and their zygos taper inwards towards the front.
In addition to forward and rearward "settedness" of the zygos, the lateral projection of the zygos and the breadth of the zygomatic processes vary between individuals.
