Maybe it's because my mother is just a mediocre cook, but after experimenting with some chicken/meat sauces/gravy, most of who involves a considerable amount of sugar, I'm now 99% convinced that it's borderline impossible to make great food without sugar.
Before you call me a sweet tooth/faggot/soy/etc, I'm not saying every meal needs to taste like Lucky Charms. I'm just saying that the natural taste of most food is utter shit and that plain salt and paper is rarely ever good enough.
Yes you can make okay food without sugar, but that's also all it will ever be. Just okay. A 6/10, maybe a 7/10 if you're very talented at cooking. But if you want 8+ meals then you NEED sugar and not just a trivial amount of it.
Big corporations dump sugar into everything for a reason: It's the GOAT food ingredient.
