Well he was like 22 in 1944, so was probably conscripted in 1941. As a conscript you're forced to do what you're told or you'll be shot. For no pay, of course. Conscript is just a western word for mamluks/slave soldiers.

Besides, unless he found some massive 100 carat diamond you'd somehow manage to stick inside your arsehole, that could be no way true, they would be constantly supervised. When their job was done for the day, they'd be searched and then went to sleep in the barracks or something. Makes me respect war veterans even more. My 9 months feels bad, but there were dudes who spent years in war not knowing if they could ever go home, or if there even was home anymore. Many also came back as drug addicts, as men were given amphetamine if they needed to be kept alert.
LOL, everyone stole in those concentration camps including the commanders, so they turned a blind eye to the guards as long as they didn't steal more than them. For such a rich people as the Jews, the Nazi state didn't record very impressive figures in confiscated money, gold and diamonds, a huge quantity trickled away in the pockets of the people who supervised the operation.
