second of course let him feel that he found it , and wasn't forced to it.
third advertise that something in a smart way.
as a example i will take video games (cs:go or minecraft)
these 2 games are advertised the right way.
they are constantly being pushed with countless videos by fans or ppl who act like fans.
the "new trick" i noticed is to mock the game , thats of course not new but its new on earth.
just mock the shit out of something in the game , you still talk about it...
the meme generation don't need anything more than that to try it.
So there you have many idiots not just play your game but praise it and live for it.
