When CN⁻ enters the body, it is absorbed through the gastrointestinal tract into the bloodstream.

Because CN⁻ is small and chemically reactive, it moves through tissues quickly

Once in circulation, CN⁻ reaches cells throughout the body. It has a strong chemical attraction for certain metal-containing enzymes.
