JFL at thinking dogs dont get sad. They are pack/social animals and get depressed when lonely. They are so good at picking up on social cues that humans give off that they can tell when ur sad, angry, happy, excited etc just by looking at ur facial expressions, body language, tone of voice, etc and they often mirror the emotions of their owners in those moments. Kinda fascinating how socially intelligent these animals are.
