HYDROCORTISONE (CREAM)
In this thread, I will take a small dive into Hydrocortisone's benefits and disadvantages.
We talk about what it is used for and the things it can do.

CAUTION
Please do your own research, I am not a Medical Professional nor a Doctor.

WHAT IS HYDROCORTISONE?
Hydrocortisone is a steroid medicine. The way it works is by calming down your body's immune response to decrease pain, itching, and inflammation. It is also used as a hormone replacement for people who don't have enough of the natural stress hormone, cortisol. It comes in many forms such as ointments, oral tablets, rectal suppositories, and intravenous injections which is a vein shot. The different forms work in different ways, but I will be talking about the cream form which helps with skin problems.

HYDROCORTISONE BENEFITS
Hydrocortisone can help with reducing skin inflammation, relieving allergic reactions, and replacing cortisol hormones. It stops itching and softens dry patches. Something that we all know is the skin thinning from Hydrocortisone. It is supposedly a disadvantage, but many view it as an actual benefit.

HYDROCORTISONE DISADVANTAGES
Hydrocortisone can surprisingly also cause common local irritation. It can cause secondary infections adding along to fungal or viral skin infections such as cold sores or rosacea. Adrenal suppression is another disadvantage that comes with prolonged use. Hormonal imbalances can be caused by excessive absorption into the bloodstream, likely when used over larger areas under airtight bandages. Hydrocortisone can also cause a Pigment change. This mean it lightens the skin or can cause a discoloration of the treated skin area.

TLDR?
Hydrocortisone comes packed with different effects, whether positive or negative. Can heal skin irritation, relieves allergic reactions, replaces cortisol hormones, stops itching, softens dry patches, can cause skin thinning, can surprisingly cause local irritation, can be a secondary infection, Adrenal suppression, and pigment change.

THANKS!
