Without realising that before Australia was discovered, Britain were sending all their convicts to America to work as slave farm labor for 7 yrs, and then they were released.

It's true for some Australians, but by far most aren't even descendants of the original settlers. They came well later and willingly. I think a lot of Aussies overplay this because it makes them sound cool and low inhib.
