A large chunk are recruited athletes and legacies. Others are just regular students who were equipped with the proper resources like a college counselor and tutor. You shouldn’t feel bad for getting rejected from these schools. If you’re smart enough and still got rejected, you’re probably more than capable of succeeding

I already said this many times in my previous threads a lot of people in prestigious unis are relentless grinders with extreme work ethic

My friend moved out at 16 and started working multiple jobs and went all in on some ai service course there. He’s doing really well now, making good money.

I honestly dont agree with this. A college counselor or tutor cannot change ANYTHING meaningful about your college app, maybe besides advice about your essay and your common themes.

I know many people going to top unis (in the US, from California), they all had the stats, GPA, and ECs to back it, obviously disregarding the athletes and such.

ye truth. My younger sister has insane work ethic and motivation, I don’t even get it. She is 4 years younger than me, graduated high school a year early at the top of her class, college a year early at a highly ranked university, etc. She’s definitely above average intelligence, but not some super genius.

I still haven’t even finished university 🤣

I never saw this thread, I’ll read it in a bit.

This is not true at all. Rich families spend and thousands of dollars on tutors and counselors since middle school to help with the application process. They tell you what ec’s to do and how to do it. A lot of them also pretty much write the whole essay for you.

Sat/Act is also incredibly easy to get good at with the right tutor. It only tests up to pre calc, so it’s not even about being smart, but learning how to recognize patterns and shit. you don’t even need to be that smart to get into these school, and this is coming from someone who has first hand experience, as well as seeing others my whole life do the same

Great thread. Once you’re in the adult working world, with a degree or not, you see what a bubble academics is. A bubble that only requires enough of 1 or 2 types of intelligence (out of many) to get through it. So using it as a gauge of intelligence or any other trait is only relative.

I agree. Where your degree comes from gives you a head start. But if you don’t utilize it correctly you’re gonna fall behind.
