I have a theory that many drug users who take drugs like alcohol, weed, stimulants and such, are simply trying to return to the "childhood euphoria" of being careless, when everything seemed simple, fun and new, and going with friends, playing a new game or watching a TV show was interesting and a whole new experience

I would say the main cause of this is skipping a developmental milestone and still being between both phases

No. People start drugs for fun, for the most part, most addicts started with weed from a young age.

'Addiction' materializes as a result of hating your sober mindset, if you receive no positive reinforcement outside of drugs it's the obvious choice.
