Finns would cut the road by cutting a few trees on it, and then wait for the massive column of armored divisions to reach the spot. The roads were too narrow for the Soviets to turn back so they were basically stuck. That's when the Finns would strike and a experienced riflesman could easily have a lot of kills from a covert position to a fully exposed road full of Soviet soldiers.
