Guys , how do orthodontists actually check up if u have a narrow palate or not . Cuz Iam quite sure I have one . My paltal width is about 27 mm on a paper . Got actally diagnosed with it by an orthodontist how some how " hid it " without using an actuall paltal expander .
Like how do they even check ?

They measured it from your ct scans

examples:

person 1

person 2
1775665672911

If your IMW is truly 27mm im so sorry
that's extreme

Is it called a craniofacial cbct scan . Or does it come by any other names like
Lateral Cephalometric X-ray (Ceph)

no these are completely different things.
How old are you?
If you're above the age of 18 i really suggest you get a craniofacial cbct scan
craniofacial cbct scan, what does it show:
it shows your sinuses
airways
how soft tissue behaves in relation to your skeleton
it's a 3d scan.
You can use it for any surgery planning whether its custom implants or jaw surgery

If you want to double check your approximate intermolar width without any scans i suggest you simply buy yourself a big apple, you slice it perfectly flat and thin and put it on the roof of your mouth, don't press too hard just slightly so the teeth leave a mark.

Then take a ruler and measure the distance between your first molars (6th teeth).

I wonder how . Not even a s8ngle orthodontist I went to asked me to craniofacial cbct despite me complaining about togue constriction and palatal narrowing
Like I literally developed a speech issue due to more arch narrowing in tge braces treatment

I trully appreciate ur help with this .
First of all yeah Iam 18 now
I measured my intermolar width with a paper before and its actually 27 mm width
I have paid a visit to more than 6 different orthos . Complaining about me having a narrow palate and just say all the history . Bur that doesnot change any thing . They just deny me having a narrow palate without any cephalometrics

Fun fact the arch narrowing from braces caused me speech impairement
Like literally each time I talk my molars bite on the sides of my tongue

Based on the cephalo you sent, I can already tell bimax is an overkill, if you don't have any breathing problems, which I doubt you do,
if you have any, that'd be more likely caused by the thin and narrow upper airway inside your nose, which is fixable with expansion, custom marpe, fme
that'd also address the speech issues you mentioned

if you get a craniofacial cbct scan, remember it's a craniofacial, not anything else - from the chin up to the supraorbitals
im mentioning it again because many of people didnt specify precisely what scan were they supposed to take and got a dental cbct, even a couple of times, some clinics do only dental cbcts
check on the internet for the nearest places that offer this, they should have ever type of scan they do on their website, and most offer pre booking for the scan,
make sure you pay a visit to get a referral, as it involes radiation, the lady is likely to ask you for one
you can also easily get it online by filling up the form

id analyse it for free and squeeze as much information as possible out of it on the plate

As of now cosmetic wise from the side im seeing a rhinoplasty and paransal implants or some sort of premaxillary implants / pyriform implants
if you happen to take the scan feel free to reach out on discord and send it to me
