Have you ever met some nigga in university or at work who seems completely indifferent to distractions. Doesnt care about girls, parties, relationships even food or sleep. Someone who is utterly absorbed in their craft or calling driven not by external rewards but by a deep inner sense of purpose.

In psychology, this intense, unwavering dedication is what described as self-actualization. The pinnacle of human motivation.

Users on thr forum misunderstand the Maslow’s hierarchy of needs. It's not a rigid ladder where one must complete each lower level (physiological needs, safety, love, esteem) before reaching the top. Maslow himself clarified that the stages are fluid and individuals can pursue self-actualization even if some lower needs remain unmet like an artist working on his painting without sleeping or eating. The pyramid model was popularized later to oversimplifies the theory.

Carl Rogers, another pioneer of psychology described the fully functioning or actualized person as someone who lives in harmony with their true self someone authentic, creative and fully immersed in realizing their potential. They don’t seek validation or pleasure from the outside world their motivation is intrinsic. They have unmissable drive and focus. You can take everything away from them but they still stay rock solid in their mission. Working relentlessly not out of obligation but out of joy meaning, and a deep connection. This is what is called self actualization and it has produced some of greatest minds ever known to mankind.

Nikola Tesla who worked tirelessly in solitude neglecting food and sleep in pursuit of his vision. Emily Dickinson barely left her room for decades, writing thousands of poems in solitude, unseen and unread in her lifetime but become literary masterpieces afterwards. These are some of the examples

You can call it coping mechanism or delusionmaxxing but there are people with this drive and they are hell bent on changing thr world and leaving their mark. These people don't chase the world, they bend it.

Elab. From your perspective it might be cope but for them it doesnt matter. They are not coping. They are doing something that makes them extremely happy
when you are moving in the direction of smth, as in progressing thru time, u are seeking the validation of smth other than urself

I admire their mindset tbh. I want to achieve self actualisation too, but it's cope. Everything in life is cope, as nothing matters.

Jfl but doesnt reply. If u place urself in the trajectory toward smth that u did not previously possess u are doing it in the name of smth other than urself (ie validating ur desire thru an other)

There have been moments in my life when I've experienced that state, when I was locked in the house without seeing anyone, studying for up to 9 hours straight without feeling tired, but they were only brief periods in my life. It's incompatible with a life worth living, made of fun and good times, good memories with friends, and above all, it's unsustainable unless you truly change the world or get recognized for your actual merits, which can be attested by academic awards or even money.

a company of friends with whom you actually have a lot fun is the biggest obstacle in my opinion

Read every molecule. These type of people 100% have brains that are impaired differently than others. And it’s quite rare to come across them these days. I’ve noticed men of older generations legit just didn’t care about anything outside of creating masterpieces and dedicating their whole life to it because they were just simply born too. Although now, I feel this current generation and the next won’t have that type of drive as older generations did due to environmental factors.

No. But I've came close to it myself. I love these people, though

What I think what causes this is a great loss or an event that they've seen, imagined in great detail, or felt in a loved one

Goggins is an example. Everyone knows the cockroach & quarter mile story. But he mentions what truly drives him is him dying & being told by God *what he could've been*. He aims to be the version that God tells other Goggins what he should have been

Kobe Bryant & Russell Westbrook are others. Kobe was an outsider all of his life. Grew up in 1980s Italy as a black kid where other kids were white and obsessed with soccer. He was not only an outsider, but never had a companion or teammate that shared his devotion to basketball. Russ lost a childhood friend. Khelcey Barrs. Russ wears a bracelet in every game he plays, it has 'KB3', his best friend's initials and jersey number on it. Russ went on to break records & win MVP, his playstyle being described as primal and anger aimed at the rim

Great introspection, a need, and isolation is what creates these minds.

One person in my uni is really really good at programming, making music, drawing, anatomy, math, physics, video editing. Just insanely hard working and talented. Works on these for hours at a time.

He's soon starting his PhD in physics.

Really rare to come across people like this. Mirin that dedication.

Really cool person to talk as well, insanely curious, funny and knowledgeable.

Too long
Better say asocial people
You don't need to be a genius to have a fullfilling life
Become the most one can be is redpill cope

Emily dickinson was a filthy dike, Nikola tesla was socially retarded who left behind nothing and died starving, despite his intelligence and physical gifts. I personally can't respect people who can't even fulfill the most basic of tasks such as reproduction, even though they know that they should, considering they have gits that other didn't.
