You'll likely see an initial flare in the first 1–2 weeks, then noticeable improvement around weeks 4–8, with the peak effect hitting around the 12-week mark where active acne may be mostly gone by month 3, but red marks and hyperpigmentation take longer to resolve. Since Accutane works systemically, it reduces oil production across your whole body, so body acne on the back, chest, and shoulders also significantly improves or disappears. Body acne does clear slightly slower than facial acne though. As for pores and your nose, Accutane shrinks your sebaceous oil glands which makes pores less visible especially on the nose where oil glands are most active, and reduces oiliness and shine which can make the nose appear smaller and more refined, but it does not actually change the bone or cartilage structure. For your 3-month plan, a full course is typically around 20 weeks (5 months), so 3 months will get you solid improvement but probably not full clearance, and if desired results aren't seen within 15 to 20 weeks your dermatologist may recommend a second course after an 8-week waiting period, so talk to your derm about whether 3 months is enough based on your dose and body weight. Studies show low dosages (20mg) work just as well but take notably longer.

Use retinol and azelaic acid to manage any acne that may come back, should help with prevention as well

I personally had it for about half a year. By 3 months it won't be fully clear. It'll be noticeably better and your pores will probably shrink really early on. I noticed my pores shrunk pretty quickly and haven't had blackheads since. You should take it for longer than 3 months, but also make sure you're taking a good dose (0.5-1 mg/kg daily). Your skin will look worse possibly in the first few weeks, but you'll also notice dryness, which means it's working. Make sure you moisturize the fuck out of ur face too or else you'll feel rlly uncomfortable. It also tightens your skin on your face pretty sure. Every time after I showered i'd feel like my skin on my face was tight on me, idk how to explain it other than that. In my experience, I had really bad body acne and it went away before all of my face acne went away, so it won't take long for that.

Takes diff time for everyone, i needed 4 months to get the bumps off my face but there's still redness, i don't remember how long it took to slim my nose all i know is that by the time it was over, my nose was slim, but the general duration is 3-6 months, depends on your severity and how you respond to it

it depends on the cause of your acne. for mine, it was most definitely hormonal, so it could come back. But also some people just notice it comes back and will have to either take a second cycle of accutane or they do tretinoin.

get it for at least 5 months. It won't hurt to get longer since it shouldn't?? be expensive since ur nott getting it from a dermatologist. The "flare" just means your acne could just get worse at first, but then you'll know it works. There's no real effect that your family will notice, but just moisturize your face because maybe they'll get suspicious as to why your face gets flaky and stuff.

It'll get noticeably better by school starts. Just start it as soon as possible and then keep going even after school starts.

nah moneys not a problem im getting it from my friends dad hes a pharmcist so he gets it on discount should be 70 dollars a month il use my allowance

well wait until you have been acne free for 30 days. This means no major breakouts, not many if any existing bumps, and don't confuse scarring for active acne. Active acne goes above the skin, scarring lies dormant but is colored.

$70 per month of accutane? You could get it for cheaper from indiamart, but idk if you'd be able to get stuff shipped to you if you don't want your parents finding out.

Yup so you'll probably have to do the isotretinoin and then after you stop just use the facial tretinoin.

Ohh alright alright yeah thats smart then. I'd recommend you keep going until its all gone then. Also, since it's the summer and you'll be taking it when its sunny out, use spf. Your skin will not react well to the sun.

Make sure once you're on isotretinoin you get off azeliac acid. Any acid will make your skin worse since it's gonna be sensitive. Just letting you know if you didn't already

And don’t forget you need to safe skin barrier because on Accutane it’s extremely sensitive, I use bioderma smooth cream, Vaseline on lips, and spf If today sunny day
