I started Accutane 10 days ago roughly.
Dermatologist put me on 10mg.
I have pretty good skin to begin with, which is why she only put on 10mg I guess.
I’m 54kg, 19 y/o.

I did already notice improvements only 10 days in, which makes sense as it’s a low dose + good base, so it’s not rare for purging stage to be skipped altogether.

Regardless of improvements being made in < 2 weeks, is this is a pointlessly low dosage?

yes at your weight and if you already have pretty good skin it should be enough, you should be all cleared up in about 4 maybe 5 months i think depends on how much acne u already have

no, accutane is a very strong drug, I'm on 30mg a week, and it helps to curb my steroid acne

Daily dose doesn’t matter, what matters is reaching the cumulative dose of 150 mg/kg

i’m not following you said no (as in no it’s not enough) followed by ‘accutane is a very strong drug’

yes I was reading about this just before I made the thread actually.

but is that rule consistent for an acne ridden piece of shit starting point and for a near clear skin person

It's more of a general guideline. For someone who has already clear ski, they might use a lower cumulative dose

thanks. but would it be a huge drop (like as low as 50/kg), or just a moderate deviation from the 150 we said

no, it definitely matters, the philosophy of "cumulative dose" is to saturate the body with such levels that it permanently leaves the sebaceous glands shrunk.

but this classic, old school approach can have tons of side effects, and you can destroy more than just glands in the skin, for example like glands in the eyes
or shrink the glands so much, that they wont produce any oil anymore, and that is far worse than having some acne

if you take 10mg a day until you reach 150mg/kg, then you will never achieve the permanent effects, and permanent side effects

Dose does matter for relapse risk but all studies show that low dose and standard dose acc can both be effective long term. 120-150 is just a guideline for probability, not some magic number for permanent change

yes I was also reading those, but if I stay on low dose do I then need to stay on it such a long term such that it cumulates still to 150mg/kg, cause for me thats close to 2 years, seems a long time
