If you have cystic acne and haven’t completed at least a 120 mg/kg isotretinoin course, this is not for you.

If you have finished your isotretinoin course and are looking for a light systemic maintenance option without the harsh effects on your sebaceous glands.
Such as slow wound healing or irritation. Then you might consider alitretinoin. Per milligram, alitretinoin targets keratinization similarly to isotretinoin, but its systemic side effects are generally much milder. This is also great if you want to do scar treatment such as CO2 lasering since it can be combined with it, while you need to quit accutane 6 months before doing so.

Note: Acne is multifactorial. Targeting keratinization alone may not be enough to maintain clear skin.
