Been using tret recently for acne but skin keeps drying up and have to keep going in and off. When I’m off some acne comes back.

I wanna hop on accutane but the key reason I use tret is cuz it literally gets rid of my Nasolabial folds.

Im wondering if accutane would make smile lines worse. Should I commit to treat regardless of dry flakes when shit happens or go to accutane?

the main benefit of isotret is the atrophy of oil glands in the skin which prevents acne despite hormone fluctuation and other causes for acne, the whole point of isotret is to reach an accumulative dose that atrophies your glands permanently, it also temporarily increases collagen and especially hits the deeper layers of the dermis which tret doesnt reach...

I found my skin texture to look cooked after high doses of accutane.. You might want to micro dose 10mg along with tret.

That seems like too much tbh. Itll just rape my skin barrier. Weighing up between staying with tret or starting accutane.

Accutane will not make your smile lines worse

since the sides are very harsh you shouldnt use it at high doses even though dermatologists always prescribe the maximum tolerable dose, high doses will dry out your skin and also lead to flakyness, making folds temporarily worse
use 10-30mg of isotret daily IN ADDITION to a topical retinoid and heavy moisturization, if your skin dries out from tret either switch to a lower concentration (0.025% instead of 0.1/0.05%) or another retinoid thats weaker OR use it less, smaller amount, less days of the week
if your skin dries out, all folds will get worse which is why your moisturization has to be on point, use estriol cream with another moisturization agent like aquaphor etc, estriol heavily increases the retention of hyaluronic acid in the skin and collagen synthesis

isotret + topical retinoid + estriol + moisturizer is a very synergistic stack, if you have problems with flakes thats basically just a too high rate of skin cell turnover, i suspect you currently overuse your topical retinoid so adjust the dose and frequency, avoid aggressive cleansing if possible and you should be good

basics like nutrition, sun screen, sleep, hygiene should obviously be in place

Also, I’ve heard of estrogen gel, suppose to be a game changer for skin. Will defo consider.

Also, do u not think a retinoid on top of accutane will rape skin barrier?

10mg is literally microdosing tho and you can do tret every other day while apeing in a lot on moisturizer even when u dont apply tret. I wish I could do that but idk where to get accutane apart from darknet but cba to order from there.

Yes it def is for collagen and moisture retention, most important thing is that you choose a topical estrogen derivative that doesnt go systemic, the rest is up to you

Where are you based? Sourcing accutane is quite easy almost everywhere.

intact skin barrier should be the indicator that determines isotret dose and topical retinoid concentration and frequency, go low and slow and determine what you can handle, most start with tretinoin e3d and up the frequency from there
