Well for starters I want to say that accutane is a "miracle" drug and that everyone with medium to severe acne should take it once their growth plates are closed. I do not regret taking this drug at all.
I wanted to make this thread to talk about the mental side effects of this drug which I feel are not discussed enough.
People will usually only talk about the physical ones that almost everyone gets (dry lips, dry skin, some stiffness).
Basically what I've noticed is that I get way more sensitive whatever my emotion is.
For example if I get angry I might start punching walls and lose my shit from time to time which I rarely do when I'm off that drug unless I'm really fucking upset. If something makes me depressed I will feel more depressed than when I'm off the drug.

" RESULTS:
Isotretinoin but not antibiotic treatment was associated with decreased brain metabolism in the orbitofrontal cortex (-21% change versus 2% change for antibiotic), a brain area known to mediate symptoms of depression. There were no differences in the severity of depressive symptoms between the isotretinoin and antibiotic treatment groups before or after treatment.
CONCLUSIONS:
This study suggests that isotretinoin treatment is associated with changes in brain functioning."

The orbitofrontal cortex (OFC) is a prefrontal cortex region in the frontal lobes of the brain which is involved in the cognitive process of decision-making.
