I was prescribed adapalene/benzoyl peroxide 0.1%/2.5% gel along with 100mg doxycycline (one capsule a day). It cleared up my acne for the most part, but it came back because I wasn’t consistent with the treatment and eventually stopped using it.

I’m guessing the doxycycline probably wouldn’t be as effective if I went back on it, so I’m wondering if there’s anywhere in the UK that prescribes a stronger adapalene or topical acne treatment?

I’m also considering isotretinoin (Accutane), but I don’t want to start it without proper blood tests and monitoring. I know I need to go back to my GP about my acne.

One question though: should I just be honest and say I didn’t finish the treatment consistently, or tell them I completed the course and the acne came back in the hope of being referred for isotretinoin?
