how is it being on adhd meds? heard they are very addictive and those who go off them for even a day are extremely unproductive and lazy. i sleep 8-10 hours and go to the gym and have a job i dont know if these habits play a role as well. my main concerns are that i dont want to have these meds control my life and make me highly dependant on them

yeah same im getting prescribed some by the doctors, my parents are ethnic as fuck and they dont belive in mental illnesses ( LOL ) so they denied me medication for my entire life. The only reason im getting it finally is because im old enough to go by myself. Hows the experience when you actually do have adhd? is it worse than someone who doesnt have adhd? do you think if i take more dosage its better?

The experience is less harsh if you possess adhd and actually become prone to sleepiness as norepinephrine increase to match a neurotypical level of neurotransmitters. and more is definitely not better as amphetamines are addictive.

they're CNS depressants which slow u down a lot, people mainly get them prescribed for panic disorders or general anxiety, acts on GABA receptors or something so it's kinda similar to alcohol. Which is why if ur a long term user and stop straight away u get fucking raped

also how it is just depends on the med and you. Stimulants like Adderall or Ritalin are pretty standard for most people but for me it makes me feel extremely jittery and stressed. I switched to guanfacine, a non stimulant option that is more calming. It's like a pharmaceutical L-Theanine. Lowers cortisol instead of raising it and helps me get better sleep as well and be less hyperactive

For me it is very different. If you've taken L-Theanine you'll understand, it's similar to that. It doesn't massively increase motivation or energy, more of a calm focus, lowers stress and anxiety and makes me less impulsive so it's easier to think.

Not mutually exclusive though, you can be on a stimulant and guanfacine, in fact it's a common use for it. Guanfacine suppresses the negative side effects of stimulants so they can synergize with ADHD

Anyway, I take lysdexamfetamine for adhd, and it does help.
But Im taking it 4 days per week only to minimize neuroadaptation.
Also matters wether u take IR or ER amphetamines, or even completly different molecules such as methylphenidate

And wel, tolerance can develop, but I think if you take it resposibly, like only on days you need it but with certain regularity to it, youll be good. This is maybe a bit of wishfull thinking because I do it this way , but idk

Also, ER meds do not cause such a rapid spike-crash cycle, so its possible to actually sleap off those crash efects, so u have like micro receptor resets between doseds.

Anyway, DYOR, and dont just blindly follow your psychiatrist. Do not be overly sceptical, but
