The problem with ratings is the same problem we have with the discrepancy between clinical trials assessing hard clinical endpoint (answering the question: does X drug work in humans) versus preclinical research examining the mechanisms same X drug has on cultured cells and mice. There is often a discrepancy between rating and real life outcomes. In the same way there is discrepancy between clinical trial outcomes and preclinical research. The hierarchy of evidence however is outcome-based clinical trial >> mechanistic studies. Same way that real life outcomes >> mechanistic theories of assessing facial attractiveness. Real life outcomes is what matters as this is the final endpoint. Real life outcomes with women (P in V) is what matters because this is what face rating try to *predict* in the first place. However, for various reasons face rating fail miserably due to much of the same reasons preclinical research fails to predict clinical trial final outcomes. Mind you, preclinical research requires more raw intellectual horsepower to conduct properly despite it being lower in the evidence hierarchy. Similarly, appropriate comprehensive face ratings often requires more technical knowledge/IQ than assessing real life outcomes with women directly. Despite the fact face ratings rank way lower in the evidence hierarchy relative to assessing final IRL outcomes directly.
