Hey guys, I decided to take a gap year from university, I finished second year but it was rough. I used to have a perfect 4.0 GPA but because of BP I decided to LDAR for an entire year and skip all my classes, so now I have a 3.5. I don't really feel like continuing at all tbh, I'm really depressed so If I went back my GPA would probably drop even further.

My initial goal was to get into medical school after getting a 4 year bachelors degree, but honestly it doesn't seem like its worth it. 2 more years of Uni + 4 years of medical school + 4 years of underpaid overworked residency. I won't have any freedom before then and I'll be almost 30 by the time I actually start earning a decent salary.

My parents are rich though - seven figure salary. should I just chill and not work for the rest of my life and live at home worry free?

I do want to start a business but I have no clue how. I currently have 10k lying around. If I worked a part time job earning ~30k - 40k a year, and convinced my parents to give me 20k for my business, what should I do. Any advice would be appreciated.

Trusting someone who’s friends with people who sell courses telling you to smash your shoulder against the wall. So what if it takes 12 years? You’d literally make well over 6 figures, stable life, stable job, and you want your throw that away over bp?

You are stuck in the matrix and there's no way out of it, if you try an business you'll have an 80% chance of failure and will need 5 more failed attempts to be successful. Go back to studying or try another career.

Its not that I'm not passionate. I actually really like medicine.

Its just the time it takes before you start earning. 4 years of medical school and 4 years of residency is an insane amount of time to dedicate. Plus there is no guarantee I'll even be accepted into medical school, I might have to do a masters degree first.

deadass, don’t do it. Get an MHA use daddy connects to get a nice medical sales job and work a 9-5. That was something I was rlly considering In my drop year. I’m only doing medicine because my dad has 7 private practices and Honeslty idek if I will pass my step1/step2. I feel like a fucking overworked retard machine and my conscious is stuck on learning about useless fucking hematology.

Sorry for rant:

3.5 good gpa assuming u have decent EC letter of recs and everything. Take accelerated masters in MPH/MHA good backup. Re apply to M.D schools if you can or do D.O

Or Caribbean or Ireland schools. If you wanna go to medical school rn, You’l match into primary care easily but any comp specialties u won’t

But my honest answer is do not go to medical school. Choose a niche unsaturated medical job. Like perfusion or anesthesiology assistant, work full time. Make good money, invest your money correctly and just live. Your still contributing to society heavily and impacting many people’s lives

Why can’t your parents just give you money.

Anything genZ or millennials do is just a waste of time while waiting to inherit (if there’s anything coming) our earning power is in the toilet.

Jsut do comp sci at a good uni if u have good ecs and use parents connections.

Isn't comp sci gonna die out soon because of AI. Even if AI isn't the best at coding, in 2 to 4 years its gonna be much better

If youre parent are rich dont they have some kind of truat fund or just large savings for you?

Also a good thing would just be to go into the same industry as your parents since thats easy networking since they probably know people too

But if you wanna become a doctor tou still can just lock in

Is there anyone you know in another industry?

Medecine is obviously very good to make money but if you want to do so when you are young its probably better to go into finance and if you have some kind of conection omin something like hedge funding or private equity youll make a doctors salary with only 4 years of school and better work life balance, if you can get into a top 10 buissnes school+nyu+ any remaining ive league youll be set even if tou dont know anyone in those industries

Insurance is also very good and gives good potential but slaaries are a bit unpredictable in the beginning

And if youre socialmaxxed obviously sales or you could start selling something yourself and youll market irl

Almost everything is going to die out soon because of AI. The only jobs that will be left will be minimum wage service jobs and people will be fighting for them because it’s still better than starving on the street.

Honestly wouldn’t bother even trying atp.

hmm, actually I'm related to someone who works at one of the top Investment Bank and Financial Services Firm in the US. I'm also know a guy who works at a good software company in Europe. But I haven't talked to them in like 8 and 3 years respectively. Other than that. I have no connections at all.

buy shitty airbnb's in touristy locations, spend the least you can to make it 'decent' and list it for hella money.

sounds like a good plan in theory. How much would do you think it would cost to buy one and flip it?

Its really only that good if you have clients all year round so its best to buy it in a big city that gets tourists year round like nyc for example

In the states p sure a plumber makes just about as much money as a doctor. The doctor actually makes more later down the line but the plumber will retire faster if he invests his money.

I regret not going to school for the social aspect, not for the educational one.

I’m not saying don’t go to uni, but nobody will every pay you better than you will pay yourself.

There are like 15yo Indonesian little boys on this website that are making 10k/mo finding some little niche or building their own business.

Spending ur 20s between education and being overworked in medical field + student loans sounds gay. I would rather be a plumber.
