Took Accutane for 3 months, 40mg for two months and 80mg for one month to get rid of my cystic acne and have fully clear skin. Here is some advice I've gotten from other people and have found myself to be useful
Sun Sensitivity: If your taking a high dose of Accutane sun is your worst enemy. Even going out in the sun for 20 minutes would FRY your skin and face to the point where you would be peeling your skin off and have uneven patches. Personally i use the vacation classic lotion broad spectrum spf 50 sunscreen to rub over my face and arms. Make sure you put that sunscreen on your lips as well because if you don't you'll have nasty blisters all over your lips that'll last for days even if you were in the sun for less than 10 mins.
Moisturizer: Don't use those bullshit generic brands like CeraVe. They do absolutely nothing to moisturize your skin and would make it dry and flaky. I personally recommend the La Roche-Posay lipkar AP+Max triple repair moisturizing cream. I would apply it in the morning and after i would shower. "After the shower and after you put on the moisturizer if your face would start sweating dw its normal" Generic lip balms wont cut it either eos, burtsbees etc. will do fuck all. The only thing that has worked is Aquaphor. The rest either don't even work or i would apply and my lips would be dry 5 minutes later
Joint pain: Joint pain is pretty normal since Accutane is drying out your whole body. I take two pills of nature made 1000 IU vitamin D3 with one pill of sports research triple strength omega-3 fish oil 1250mg fish oil 1055mg omega 3. taking those i have no joint pain whatsoever going to the gym but the second i don't take those my wrists and elbows start hurting like a bitch
Personal bloodwork: First month i was on one pill 40mg of Accutane and i went through the purge phase fairly okay. Second month my bloodwork came out good so my doctor upped the dosage by double which my second month i was taking 80mg. My acne would slowly go away till the end of the month which by then all the bumps on my face were gone and it was just mainly redness. After i took my bloodwork for the third month my cholesterol was through the roof so my doctor prescribed me down back to 40mg per day which by the end of that month all the redness and acne had vanished off my face.
Pill effectiveness: Accutane is a fat soluble medication which means it needs fat to absorb the pill properly. Before taking the medication try eating really fatty foods as peanut butter, cream cheese ,avocado etc.. Taking Accutane without much fatty foods would make the pill less effective therefore taking longer to get rid of said acne and barely work.
