African pheno Maxilla projection

Can any high iq members tell me the evolutionary purpose of a protruding maxilla/forward growth seen in sub-Saharan phenos, especially in congolids. Is it for better breathing in a hot areas or is it for eating purposes?

Diet wouldn't change your facial structure so drastically, and if it could you would expect to see more variation in the skull structure of west African populations (which you generally don't see much). Even though African Americans have been exposed to western diets for hundreds of years their facial structures generally are still closest to west Africans, not white Americans (who eat the same as them) unless they have a high amount of European admixture, so that couldn't be the answer.

And to answer your question OP, it was a feature retained from earlier hominins, that was just the default facial structure for humans and then other populations drifted over times. It was developed for eating purposes but those traits were developed a LONG time ago and not something that could be changed by diet in just a lifetime.
