If you want to drink alcohol, you have to be 21. Meaning as you age, you gain rights. (The 22 year old man has more rights than the 15 year old boy)
If you want to get a driver's license, you have to be 16. Meaning as you age, you gain rights. (The 22 year old has more rights than the 15 year old)

In all the cases, the law basically creates the idea "you gain more rights as you get older, so its better to be older". So you have something to look forward to, eh?

This seriously has to be the only law like this that exists. If you are under the age of consent at 15, and then you reach the age of consent at 16, and you now have the "legal ability to consent", but what have you actually gained?
